Objectives
As a next step of the Community Pharmacy Foundation funded project The Value of Community Pharmacy Residency Training, a need has been identified in the marketplace to provide stakeholders starting these programs with resources, examples, and a guide to provide assistance in establishing new programs. The APhA Community Pharmacy Residency Advisory Panel has proposed creating a resource with detailed examples, instructions and a workbook to use as a guide by programs. In the recent ASHP Residency Capacity Conference, the expansion of community pharmacy residency programs was identified as critical to meet the current and future needs of residency training. In addition, the conference attendees identified the critical need for residency support materials and resources that will help to promote the growth and expansion of PGY1 residency programs. It is envisioned that this project would be accomplished through the collaborative effort of the Community Pharmacy Residency Working group that historically was made up of representatives from APhA, ASHP, NCPA and NACDS.
