Objectives
The purpose of this research is to identify pharmacists that currently provide or are interested in providing community-based patient care services i.e. Medication Therapy Management MTM, Immunizations, Diabetes education, etc. and are interested in joining a statewide practice network. With support from the seven schools of pharmacy in Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association PPA, this research is a critical first step in a larger project that includes an already grant-funded MTM training program led by the University of Pittsburgh in partnership with each of the schools in Pennsylvania and PPA. Study investigators and PPA plan to use these results to determine appropriate resources for building a statewide pharmacist practice network and to assist in the establishment of payer contracts for pharmacist-provided patient care services to community-based patients in Pennsylvania. Additionally, PPA intends to create a web-based resource tool where pharmacists, physicians, patients, and payers can identify pharmacists who can provide patient care services to community-based patients.
